Located next to the decommissioned Viscount Bennett school site, Cascade is a mixed-use development that introduces new housing options and amenities that begin to transition Richmond into a more complete inner-city community.
At approximately 4 hectares in size, the adjacent Viscount Bennett lands provide a strategic opportunity for the area to emerge as a Neighbourhood Activity Centre providing a new walkable destination including retail, services, community facilities and integrated transit.
Comprised of a mix of ground floor commercial-retail with residential uses above, Cascade has been designed to not only act as a catalyst for future redevelopment but also to respond to the context that exists today.
Stepped massing along the north and south facades provides a sensitive transition that reduces the visual impact and increases exposure to light and air for existing and future residents. At ground level, an improved public realm provides generous sidewalks, street trees, landscaping and furniture creating a valuable destination for people to live, work and visit.
