Block

A catalyst for
local creative culture.

Block is an innovative and award-winning mid-rise development located prominently on Inglewood-Ramsay's eclectic heritage main street — 9 Avenue SE.

The project responds to the demand for flexibility in the areas of housing, hospitality, workplace, and commercial spaces as the collaborative economy continues to evolve and change the way people live.

Offering a hybrid between apartment living and boutique hotel combined with co-working, event space, and a main street retail experience, the project supports compact strategic growth, economic resiliency, and multi-modal connectivity.

Featuring a bold architecturally modern design, BLOCK addresses the eclectic community character through creative re-imagining and juxtaposition of old and new. By retaining and legally protecting the 1911 Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) building, new life is given to this cherished heritage asset with character-defining elements weaved together through movement, program, building, and the spaces in-between.

Further innovations include a fully integrated bus-rapid-transit waiting facility, laneway activation, and generous public plaza that together signal and celebrate arrival at the gateway of one of Calgary's greatest neighbourhoods.
